近年、Sotheby’sやChristie’sなどの世界的オークション会社がスニーカーのオークションを開催、Air Yeezy1のサンプルは約1億9千万円で落札されるなど貴重なスニーカーはアートやデザイナーズのアーカイブと同様の評価を受けている。

WTSが今回紹介させて頂くのは、Dunkの歴史を語る上で欠かせない一足、オークションに出品されれば間違いなく数百万円を超えるだろう。

近年ではVirgilもストリートカルチャーの歴史で重要な一足と語っている。Orchard Streetにより40足限定で製作された約半分はJay-Z、NASなどのニューヨーク市の有名人に渡され、残りの半分はマンハッタンの電線に吊るされる形で展開された。同時に、靴の写真が描かれた大きな「WANTED」の看板がニューヨーク市のいたるところに掛けられたという。Pop UpやSNSがない時代に仕掛けられたゲリラリリースは、今尚伝説として語り継がれている。
